Event Details

Most writers find writing a synopsis more daunting than producing an 80,000-word manuscript. But if you want your work considered by a publisher, agent, commissioning editor, mentoring program or grants body, there is no way around it. Even if you are planning on self-publishing. Drawing on synopses from published authors this workshop looks at the necessary ingredients of a synopsis, and works through ways to put the ingredients together to cook up a great result.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this workshop, you will gain the knowledge and skill set to be able to:

  • Understand the difference between a pitch and a synopsis and the relationship between them
  • Clarify what should and shouldn’t be in a synopsis
  • Shape key ingredients of the synopsis
  • Understand how to put these ingredients together
  • Gain a better understanding of what your work is about
